Jon Hunt, the founder of Foxtons who was involved in a row with the French ambassador over plans for an iceberg basement at a London property, has been refused planning permission for a smaller basement.
Hunt won the case against the ambassador, Sylvie Bermann, but nevertheless submitted revised plans for a basement that would be 5,000 sq ft smaller. These were rejected because they contravened rules introduced last year.
The original basement plans can go ahead, however, as they predate the new rules.
