Plus-size clothing brands Simply Be and Jacamo are considering closing the doors on their shared store on Oxford Street, W1, less than two years after its opening.
Colliers International has been instructed to advise on the possible sale of the 9,000 sq ft shop at 138-140 Oxford Street, W1, and is offering the lease for £1.2m pa. The space is likely to appeal to high street fashion retailers.
A market source said the shop was most likely to be closing after receiving a series of unsolicited approaches from other retailers looking to get a foothold on Oxford Street, where there has been a shortage of flagship space. That shortage has resulted in high premiums and aggressive bidding for space that does become available, they said.
Competing plus-size brand Ann Harvey also had a shop on Oxford Street, which closed in 2012.
Evans, which caters for women’s fashion in sizes 14-32, still has a shop on Oxford Street.
Colliers International declined to comment.
