Sainsbury’s gets all clear for HRG deal

sainsburys-trolley-THUMB.jpegSainsbury’s has been given the all clear by the Competition Markets Authority to buy Home Retail Group in a £1.4bn deal.

This will make the supermarket the UK’s biggest seller of general goods.

The CMA said in late May that it was considering an investigation into the takeover and set a deadline of 13 June for comments about the deal’s effect on consumers.

The deal will now go to Home Retail group shareholders for an approval meeting on 27 July.
