Hong Kong luxury apartment vacancies remain low

Vacancies for luxury Hong Kong apartments remain low despite cuts in allowances for expats, as mainland Chinese renters take up the slack.

There has been a shift in tenant profiles in the last few months, Savills said in a report. The tenants are typically wealthy professionals or business owners rather than bank employees.

Housing budgets within the banking, insurance and legal industries are 40% below the 2012 peak, the report said.
