Prices charged at UK supermarkets fell around 1.4% in the 12 weeks to July 17, unchanged from the prior period, the latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel show.
The Brexit vote had no immediate impact on either prices or sales volumes over the last 12 weeks, the company’s head of retail and consumer insight, Fraser McKevitt, said.
Both Tesco and Sainsbury’s recorded a 0.2 percentage point fall in market share, while Asda’s market share fell by 0.9 percentage point.
Nielsen reported a 2.4% annual fall in prices in the four weeks to 16 July, but attributed it to the weather rather than the referendum vote.
