The Bank of England’s monetary policy committee is widely expected to vote to cut interest rates at this week’s meeting, in response to concerns about the impact of the EU referendum.
Thursday will also see the publication of a new inflation report and new forecasts for the economy. Economists are expecting a cut to below 1% from May’s 2.3% growth forecast.
A 25-basis-point cut in the interest rate is the most likely move, according to economists, although some are anticipating a larger cut, taking the bank rate to zero.
