End of right-to-buy in Scotland welcomed

The end of the right to buy social housing in Scotland has been welcomed by housing associations, with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations describing the move as coming not a moment too soon.

MPs there voted to end the scheme in 2014, giving tenants a deadline of two years in which to apply to buy their homes.

Half a million social rented homes have been lost over three decades of the policy, SFHA chief executive Mary Taylor said.
