Carluccio’s is to open the first of its new concept Italian restaurants outside London at the intu shopping centre in Derby.
The restaurant chain will take space on the second level of the centre just outside the Eat Central food court, and aim for an October opening.
Carluccio’s opened the first of its new generation restaurants in London’s Spitalfields earlier this year. The concept combines a deli and shop, with a dining area and open-plan kitchen.
Neil Wickers, chief executive of Carluccio’s, said: “The Derby restaurant will celebrate and amplify all the small things that have made Carluccio’s one of the country’s most loved restaurant groups. The premise is to emphasise and enhance the things that make Carluccio’s stand out from the crowd – its suppliers, fresh dishes made on-site and unique combination of restaurant, shop and deli.”
Carluccio’s has 98 restaurants across the UK and was founded in 1999 by Antonio Carluccio.
Intu Derby has seen a flurry of new leisure tenants in the past 12 months, including Byron Burger, Joe’s Kitchen, Zizzi and Mexi Co. Mexican eatery Barburrito is set to take space at the shopping centre in 2017.
