Ed Cooke has been appointed chief executive of the British Council of Shopping Centres. He had been acting chief executive since the departure of John Coyne in April. Cooke was previously director of policy and public affairs at BCSC. Before that he was a senior policy adviser at the British Retail Consortium.

Carluccio’s Derby debut

Carluccio’s is to open its first Deli & Dining concept outside London. It will open at the intu shopping centre in Derby in October.

Bragg joins BNP PRE

BNP Paribas Real Estate has appointed Ian Bragg from GVA Bilfinger as head of building consultancy. He specialises in advising on technical risks when buying and developing property and has worked on the Old War Office in Whitehall, SW1, Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, W1, and the Canadian Embassy on Grosvenor Square, W1.

Hines backs out of Nike deal

Hines has withdrawn its agreement to buy Nike’s flagship store in Glasgow for £30m, following the Brexit result. The investor had been under offer in an off-market deal to buy 20-26 Buchanan Street, for a 4% yield, from LaSalle Investment Management. Nike signed a 15-year lease for the 27,500 sq ft pitch in 2010 at a starting rent of £1.3m pa, subject to five yearly rent reviews.

Brown puts London First

Sue Brown, former head of property at FTI Consulting, has joined business organisation London First as executive director of planning and development. Brown has more than 30 years’ experience in real estate and has worked on high-profile London projects including Canary Wharf, Spitalfields and Paddington Central. She is also one of the founders of MIPIM and MIPIM UK.
