Inside a Crossrail tunnel

WATCH: Ever fancied seeing inside a Crossrail tunnel? Estates Gazette ventured below London’s streets to see what the new stations and platforms will look like.

While the full route is expected to be finalised in 2019, the Elizabeth Line, as it is now known, will feature 200m-long air-conditioned trains equipped with WiFi and 4G, and capacity for 1,500 passengers.

The trains will  run from Reading and Heathrow in the west, through 42 km of new tunnels under London to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.

The Crossrail project is the largest construction site in Europe and includes 10 new stations, 30 upgraded stations and the integration of new and existing infrastructure.
