HIMOR Group has submitted outline plans to Trafford Council for the first phase of its 1,665-acre Future Carrington regeneration project.
The brownfield site, which is earmarked for a total of 7,000 homes and 8m sq ft of offices over the next 20 years, is one of the largest freehold sites in Greater Manchester.
It represents a significant development opportunity in an area of limited land supply, with HIMOR planning to appoint housebuilders and joint venture commercial development partners to build out the new village. The bidding process is expected to begin in early 2017, subject to planning. Colliers International and JLL are advising.
Housing will be designed to cater to demand for suburban family homes, with low-rise two- and four-bedroom properties earmarked for phase one.
HIMOR group managing director Will Ainscough said: “What we see here is a large site catering particularly in the first phase for SMEs, building units of mainly 10,000-60,000 sq ft.”
He added: “There is strong demand in and around Manchester for suburban family housing and the residential element will provide up to 900 homes.”
