The Garden Bridge across the Thames could be turned into a hedgehog sanctuary if Conservative MP Oliver Colvile has his way.
If something is called a Garden Bridge, it needs to have wildlife in it, he said. Colvile hopes to talk to the bridge’s designer, Thomas Heatherwick, about the idea.
Construction work is due to start on the bridge this year, with completion expected in 2019. The Garden Bridge Trust is facing a funding shortfall and needs to raise £52m for construction to be completed.
