Wales to replace stamp duty with new land tax

Wales will replace stamp duty with a land transaction tax from April 2018, under powers devolved to the Welsh Assembly.

The tax will be levied on the purchase or lease of properties or land above a certain price level.

A new Wales Revenue Authority will collect the £250m a year that is expected to be raised under the new tax.
