Hilton refurb plans approved

London-Hilton-on-Park-LaneA refurbishment and redevelopment of Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, W1, has secured planning permission.

The revamp will see the upper part of the hotel being converted to residential use and there will be a partial demolition and redevelopment of the existing rear podium.

A new building will be created in Stanhope Row to produce serviced apartments, opening up a public space where the current podium is situated.

The changes mean there will be a reduction in hotel bedrooms but there will be an overall increase in floorspace owing to reductions to the car park and basement expansion.

Robert Davis, deputy leader and cabinet member for the built environment at Westminster City Council, said: “This landmark hotel in central London will be given a new lease of life by these exciting plans and will be a major improvement on the current buildings which are looking a little tired.

“The appealing design reflects our drive for quality buildings and attractive open spaces as we strive to maintain central London as a world-class destination of choice in the face of stiff international competition.”
