Employment rose by 174,000 in the three months to July, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%, figures from the Office for National Statistics showed.
Wages growth eased to 2.1% from a revised 2.4%.
The data come ahead of today’s interest rate decision by the Bank of England.
