Irish government to hold inquiry into Nama loan sale

The Irish government is to hold an inquiry into the sale by the National Asset Management Agency of its Northern Ireland loan portfolio following a report by the comptroller and auditor-general.

The portfolio was sold for £1.2bn to US equity fund Cerberus.

The report found that up to £190m might have been lost on the deal. Nama refuted the findings and said it had achieved the best possible commercial outcome.
