MP warns of risk to jobs at M&S

The jobs of thousands of Marks & Spencer staff are at risk if they do not accept a new pay deal, Labour MP Siobhain McDonagh said.

Under the new deal, shop staff would receive a basic hourly wage of £8.50 but premium payments, including for working on a Sunday, would be lost. M&S said it did not want anyone to leave, and that it would top up the pay of anyone who was worse off for a period of two years.

The retailer is also cutting more than 500 jobs at its London HQ, and moving around 400 jobs out of the capital.
