Brewer Shepherd Neame reported a 4.7% rise in profit, to £14.4m, and a 1.2% increase in revenue, to £139.9m, in the 12 months ended 25 June.
Although it has shut pubs, Shepherd Neame has been raising investment in its estate. It has worked hard to improve the quality of its pub estate in recent years, chief executive Jonathan Neame said.
The company bought eight pubs from Enterprise Inns, taking the total it owns to more than 330.
