New review into Thames garden bridge

London mayor Sadiq Khan has ordered a new review of the Thames garden bridge project.

Margaret Hodge, the MP for Barking, has been appointed to review whether the project, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, represents good value for the taxpayer.

The cost of the bridge is expected to reach £185m by the time it is completed in 2019, of which £60m will be taxpayer money, £30m will come from central government and £30m from Transport for London. Khan has said no additional public money would be made available.
