Student accommodation shortage hits Warwick

Student accommodation at the University of Warwick is in short supply after a surge in the number of students from European Union countries looking to enrol on courses ahead of Brexit.

The university’s director of press and policy, Peter Dunn, said it had expected a fall in the number of students from other EU countries following the Brexit vote, but instead the number of acceptances rose.

As a result, students are being put up in hotels or are having to share single rooms. JLL calculates that nationally there are three students for each room in student accommodation.
