East Ayrshire council has given its backing to a regeneration plan for the former Johnnie Walker bottling plant in Kilmarnock.
It has pledged £2m for the Halo project; Diageo, which owns the Johnnie Walker brand, is promising a similar amount and 23 acres of land.
Plans for the site include business hubs, a conference centre and a sports facility. In addition, 175 affordable homes are planned, which will be available to rent.
