The Financial Conduct Authority will consider whether homebuyers are too optimistic about being able to repay their mortgages in its upcoming market study.
The study will look at whether the tools consumers have available meet their needs, FCA director of strategy and competition, Christopher Woolard, said.
Some of the relationships between brokers, lenders, and price-comparison websites, among others, may be detrimental to the overall good functioning of the mortgage market or consumers’ interests, he said.
