Parents should leave their homes and other wealth to their grandchildren rather that their children, according to housing minister Gavin Barwell.
Doing that would help ease the housing crisis by enabling young people to get onto the property ladder.
Research by Age Partnership shows those over the age of 55 own £1.5trn of equity in their homes, more than Italy’s annual gross domestic product.
