RVG plans Oxford retirement village

RVG Shiplake Village

Retirement Villages Group has submitted plans for the development of a new community at Lower Shiplake, Henley-on-Thames, to kick-start its £200m expansion drive.

Under the proposals, 66 new residential units and 40 care beds would be created across a 6.5-acre site.

As with RVG’s 14 other UK retirement villages, the new community will include a clubhouse with bar, restaurant, shop, gym, library, and meeting rooms as well as admin and domiciliary care offices.

Earlier this month, RVG announced plans to expand its portfolio of luxury retirement communities. It is embarking on its largest development programme in its 35-year history, with a pipeline of seven new locations that will be delivered over the next five years.

Subject to consent, work on Lower Shiplake could start on site in spring 2018, with the village opening to its first residents before the end of 2019.

William Crawford, group development director at RVG, said: “We are looking forward to capitalising changing market dynamics and embarking on the next chapter of the company’s growth. We are fully committed to delivering the seven new villages and are already identifying opportunities for potential further sites to follow.”
