Revised plans for Mayfair members club Annabel’s have been given the go-ahead.
The application for 46 Berkeley Square and 46 Hay’s Mews, W1, proposed removing the basement and retaining the Mews House, which was set to be demolished and rebuilt.
Westminster City Council voted to keep a new retractable glazed extension that would cover the whole of the courtyard, taking it up to the rear of 46 Berkeley Square.
Officers had previously recommended to remove it, owing to concerns over the “detrimental impact” on the Grade I listed building. But councillors recognised that local residents supported the application and Historic England considered the harm to be “less than substantial”.
