A Victorian mansion where Everest mountaineer George Mallory learnt to climb was due to go under the hammer at Meller Braggins’ sale in Knutsford, Cheshire on 18 November.
Hobcroft House, which has fallen into disrepair, is being offered with a guide price of £450,000.
Mallory, who died attempting to climb Mount Everest in 1924, reportedly tested his skills as a young boy by scaling the house’s roof and chimneys.
