Battersea Power Station is set to welcome its first residents next month, but its success contrasts with the broader construction sector where recent figures show activity at its lowest level in four years.
Gaps are appearing on order books, and the number of people looking to tender at Battersea is rising, Rob Tincknell, chief executive of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, said.
The company has encouraged smaller companies to tender; some 530 UK companies work on the project, including 125 small and mid-sized ones.
