A draft 20-year local plan by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead envisages the construction of 14,000 new homes, including 3,000 on green belt land in Maidenhead, the constituency of prime minister Theresa May.
The prime minister should be doing more to limit the number of green belt releases taking place, Paul Miner of the Campaign to Protect Rural England said.
Only around 2% of local green belt land would be lost as a result of the plan, Derek Wilson of Windsor and Maidenhead council said.
