Redrow boss criticises rules on great crested newts

Redrow chief executive John Tutte has criticised planning regulations that companies must follow if they are to build near a colony of great crested newts.

There is no shortage of great crested newts in the UK, but it is European legislation, he said.

Changes to the rules mean the newts can be relocated, but Tutte said even this was caught up in red tape.
