Brian Blessed, Nick Clegg and Olympic athlete Katherine Grainger were among the great and good who took part in the Story of Christmas Appeal 2016 at St George’s Church in Hanover Square, W1, last night.
They were joined by the likes of Zoë Wanamaker, Nickolas Grace, John Inverdale, Imogen Stubbs and Ian Hislop, who gave readings in between carols by the Choir of St George’s Chapel Windsor and music from the brass band of the Welsh Guards.
Some 600 of the property and construction industry’s biggest names – many of whom had made generous donations to projects to support homeless and disadvantaged people in the capital – attended the service and a reception at the Dorchester hotel afterwards.
This year more than £400,000 has been raised for the Story of Christmas appeal so far.
