Brian Blessed, Nick Clegg and Olympic athlete Katherine Grainger were among the luminaries taking part in the Story of Christmas Appeal 2016 at St George’s Church in Hanover Square, W1, on Wednesday. They were joined by Zoë Wanamaker, Ian Hislop and others, who gave readings in between carols by the Choir of St George’s Chapel Windsor and music from the Welsh Guards. Some 600 of the property and construction industry’s biggest names attended and made generous donations to projects supporting homeless and disadvantaged people in the capital, raising more than £400,000.
