Hire of the week: Dean Young

Dean Young has joined Lambert Smith Hampton as a director to head its Manchester industrial agency team.

Young, who founded specialist industrial agency Young and Co, brings more than 30 years’ experience in industrial property to the role. He previously headed North West industrial teams at Knight Frank, CBRE and Edward Rushton.

Young has acted for major clients in the North West, including CBRE Global Investors, IPIF, M7Real Estate, Aberdeen Asset Management, Norbert Dentressangle Revelan and Bidvest.

Regional managing director for the North Matthew Scrimshaw said: “Last year LSH’s industrial team were identified as being the UK’s most active industrial agents in Estates Gazette’s Annual Deals Competition. We have a strong team, but are keen to develop it even further.

“Dean Young is one of the North West’s big hitters in the industrial market and we feel that, with his extensive experience and contacts, he can drive our team forward and overtake our rivals.”

Commenting on his new post, Young says: “Lambert Smith Hampton has a fantastic reputation for its work in the industrial sector, especially in the South East of England, and I look forward to developing its client base and elevating its standing in the industrial property market to a similar position in the North West.”

The most interesting thing about working in property for Young is the people. He says: “There are fantastic and sometimes rather curious people in the industry, which makes for interesting (and occasionally rather bizarre) work relationships.”

If Young could be managing director of any company, he would choose Virgin. He explains: “I suspect that it’s a very interesting place to work, and that what we see on the outside is completely different than what actually goes on inside – especially with all the big business deals going on at Necker Island.”
