Haringey Council has announced a £3.5bn plan for the redevelopment of Wood Green town centre.
The council has launched a consultation for a 15-year project intended to create 7,800 homes, 60,000 sq ft of employment space and 4,000 jobs.
The aim is to develop a major shopping destination in north London, as well as improved streets and public places. Proposals include restaurants, cafés and places to socialise along with the redevelopment of currently underused sites.
The plans also call for improvements to pedestrian and transport links between Wood Green town centre and Alexandra Palace.
Consultation began in 2015 with residents and a further consultation on the preferred option will open on 7 February and close on 14 March this year.
Joe Goldberg, cabinet member for economic development, social inclusion and sustainability, said: “Haringey is the future of London and the transformation of Wood Green would give more of our residents opportunities and a quality of life at least equal to that of the best in the city. We want to make Wood Green one of the best places to work, shop, eat and drink in London.”
