Premier Inn secures German sites

premier-Inn-sign-THUMB.jpegPremier Inn has added two sites to its development pipeline as it expands its hotel portfolio in Germany.

The sites in Essen and Freiburg will add 370 bedrooms, bringing the total secured development pipeline up to around 930 rooms.

The company has completed on a deal for a 190-bedroom hotel in Essen Main Station. The hotel in Freiburg, close to Freiburg’s train station, will provide 180 rooms following a deal completed this month.

Premier Inn is purchasing the two sites freehold. The hotels are scheduled to open in 2019.

These deals follow from others last year in Hamburg, Munich and Leipzig, where hotels are set to open in 2018, as Premier Inn moves towards its target of having eight hotels trading in Germany by 2020 and expanding its portfolio of sites in key German cities.

Mark Anderson, managing director – property for Premier Inn International at Whitbread, said: “Since 2014 we have secured 1,100 rooms in the German hotel market and are looking to build on this solid foundation.”
