The former head of UK transactions at Grosvenor Fund Management, Jason Smith, has joined family-owned property business GMS Estates as property director.

Smith held his post at Grosvenor for three years and prior to that was a partner at central London real estate consultancy Hall Kemp.

He will be working alongside GMS’s senior management team on the firm’s forthcoming development programme. This includes works at Queensway, W2, and Kingsway House, WC1,  which are in planning. Smith will also be working on further central London acquisitions for the group, targeting multi-tenanted properties.

Managing director Thomas Gibbon said: “His expertise will help us to bring forward an exciting development pipeline.”

Smith’s departure from Grosvenor followed the restructure of its fund management business in April last year.

The business rebranded as Grosvenor Europe and is refocusing away from the UK and towards the Continent. It is also transforming from a fund manager to an investor investing only its own capital.
