McLaren Automotive is to open a new £50m plant at a site close to the University of Sheffield’s advanced manufacturing research centre.
The McLaren composites technology centre will be responsible for building carbon-fibre chassis for the company’s sports cars.
The plant could be expanded at a later date. McLaren’s main factory and headquarters are in Woking.
