Taylor Wimpey has been named preferred bidder for one of the most high-profile estate regeneration projects in the country.
Wandsworth Council selected the developer as a joint venture partner for the £1bn redevelopment of the Winstanley and York Road Estates in Battersea, SW8, after a 13-month OJEU tendering process.
Wandsworth Council launched the regeneration project in January 2016, looking for a partner to redevelop the 32-acre estate next to Clapham Junction station.
Taylor Wimpey’s scheme, will include the re-provision of 530 social rented homes, 100 for affordable rent, 100 shared ownership homes and 300 private rented homes.
Around 970 homes will be built for private sale to reach the 2,000-home total, alongside the refurbishment of shop, commercial and leisure space.
