NHBC asks regulator to remove obsolete undertakings on warranties

The National House Building Council has asked the Competition and Markets Authority to review undertakings it made some 20 years ago on warranties, saying they were obsolete.

The NHBC made the undertakings in 1995 after an investigation found some of its rules restricted companies from offering other schemes.

It noted its share of the market had fallen from 90% to 80%, and that there were now around 10 alternative warranty schemes.
