Property developers and housing associations are among those writing to chancellor Philip Hammond urging him to give the green light to Crossrail 2.
Berkeley Homes chairman Tony Pidgley said the project is the only one that can make a significant difference to the housing stock in the southeast.
Melanie Leech, chief executive of the British Property Federation, said Crossrail 2 would stimulate regeneration along its route, opening up new sites for housing and employment. A speedy decision would provide a vote of confidence for the industry, she said.
