Annington, one of the largest private owners of residential property in the UK, has appointed Baroness Liddell as chairman, replacing Elizabeth Filkin, who will step down at the end of the month.
Liddell was a member of parliament from 1994 to 2005, holding positions including economic secretary to the Treasury, minister for transport, and the secretary of state for Scotland. She was made a life peer in 2010.
The company, which is owned by a fund managed by Terra Firma Capital Partners, also appointed Internos Global Investors founder Jos Short as deputy chairman.
Justin King, vice chairman and head of portfolio businesses at Terra Firma, said: “Elizabeth Filkin has chaired Annington for nine years and I would like to thank her for her contribution in that time.
“Helen and Jos’ appointments will be invaluable as we continue to look at opportunities to grow and develop the business in coming years.”
