A slowing housing market has added to concerns the economy is losing steam as the process for the UK to leave the European Union gets underway.
Data from Halifax revealed a 3.8% on-year rise in house prices in the three months to March, the smallest rise in almost four years.
The news comes as the construction sector reported a 1.7% drop in output in February, its largest fall for nearly a year, as housing and infrastructure output came under pressure.
