Countryside has been selected by Windsor & Maidenhead council to be its jv partner in the regeneration of Maidenhead town centre.
The jv will redevelop four council owned sites at York Road, West Street, Reform Road and St Cloud Way, with the potential to deliver 1,200 homes alongside retail and commercial uses.
The sites cover 15.6 acres and are the biggest release of public land in the borough for several years. The council intends to generate significant income which will be reinvested in improving council services and facilities for residents.
Cllr Simon Dudley, leader of the council, said: “The council will retain considerable control over how the sites are developed and is committed to providing high quality homes, including genuinely affordable options for local residents so we can build a borough for everyone.”
Countryside was selected from a shortlist of five bidders. Subject to securing planning consent, construction could start in 2018.
