Scottish wind power initiative funding affordable homes

A Scottish initiative sees electricity generated by three wind turbines being used to provide income for affordable new homes in rural Scotland.

Planning began in 2009, with a site chosen near the village of Cockburnspath.

The partners, Berwickshire Housing Association and Community Energy Scotland, expect the loan for the project to be paid off in 15 years. BHA chief executive Helen Forsyth reckons the scheme will be on its way to building at least 500 extra homes by then.
