Liverpool City Council has granted approval for Ovatus 1, the £35m, 27-storey residential tower planned for central Liverpool.
Ovatus 1, developed by Prospect Capital and Wilcocks & Wilcocks, will be the first phase of a two-tower development near the city’s Princes Dock.
Phase one will cover 20,828 sq ft and will include 168 flats ranging from studio flats to three-bedroom apartments.
Work on the site will begin in the autumn, coinciding with the submission of planning applications for Ovatus 2, a 48-storey, 580-flat tower.
Nick Fillingham, regional director at Indigo Planning, which advised the developers, said: “The discussions we conducted during the pre-application stage of this application laid the foundations for an excellent working relationship with Liverpool City Council.
“The green light for this development will ensure prime residential stock can be provided to meet current high demand.”
