The project to build a bridge across the Thames has effectively been scrapped, with London mayor Sadiq Khan saying he will not provide the financial guarantees necessary for construction to begin.
Khan cited the funding shortfall and absence of land use agreements.
Planning permission for the bridge is due to expire in December.
