Clarion Housing Group has entered into a partnership with Southwark Council where it will invest £125m to build 600 homes across 10 sites in the borough.
The sites are jointly known as Lot B in the Southwark Regeneration in Partnership Programme, which aims to deliver around 1,500 homes using council land and resources.
The first site to be developed will be the Copeland Road car park in Peckham. Completion of all 10 is scheduled for mid-2021.
Almost half of the 600 homes will be for council rent, with the remainder a combination of affordable shared ownership and private sale. A number of community and commercial units will also be provided.
Councillor Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration and new homes, said: “In Southwark we are tackling the housing crisis head on with our ambitious commitment to building 11,000 new council homes across the borough by 2043. So far we’ve completed 350 new council homes with well over 1,000 more on the way.”
Clarion has appointed Conran and Partners as architect and master planner. Martin Arnold Associates will be delivery manager.
