Even Group, a private property investment company, has sold the Berkeley Park Serviced Apartments near Heathrow to Hillingdon Council for £9.3m.
The 21,000 sq ft scheme consists of 50 units around a private courtyard area.
The council has bought the development with the intention of converting it into a homeless shelter, subject to planning.
Andrew White, residential development director at Colliers International, said: “This is the first time that Hillingdon Borough Council has bought a building of this size for shelter use. We understand that there are currently 200 families in the vicinity living in overflow hotels and other inadequate locations, so there is clearly a shortfall of council owned accommodation that is directly available for this purpose.”
Colliers International and Knight Frank were joint agents on the sale.
