Landlords: where are the biggest returns for London film locations? It’s elementary…

From Harry Potter to Sherlock Holmes and James Bond, EG pins down which retail locations have star quality.

As the Cannes Film Festival kicks off you don’t need to be in the south of France to get a glimpse of the superstars. If you own property in prime central London here are the filming locations that offer the best rental returns, according to data from Colliers International.

Canary Wharf and Piccadilly are the star rental performers over the last 12 months, seeing double-digit growth this year.

“James Bond’s new vehicle of choice could well be a Tesla, which he could buy from the area’s new state-of-the-art showroom at Cabot Place,” said Mark Charlton, head of research and forecasting at Colliers International.  The emergence of Canary Wharf as an increasingly popular retail and leisure destination has pushed its zone-A rental levels on a par with Westfield London, he added.

“In addition, Piccadilly has seen rents kick-on, particularly on the south side and towards Green Park. An improved food and beverage offering is a demand driver, but the rental discount over the adjacent Dover and Albemarle Streets is also generating wider tenant interest.  Harry Potter could join wizard of the kitchen, Jamie Oliver, at the recently opened Barbecoa.”
