The Avenue achieves Wired Certified Platinum

AshbyCapital and Exemplar’s new office and retail building, the Avenue, W1, has achieved a Wired Certified Platinum rating for its connectivity, the highest available.

The building’s connectivity highlights include two diverse points of entry for communications, as well as diverse risers to support redundancy and protect the building against any potential disruption. It also includes free WiFi in all the common areas.

The building has also undertaken proactive radio frequency testing to ascertain adequate mobile performance within the building.

In addition, it has a standard wayleave agreement to streamline installation from new service providers and reduce tenants’ set-up time. Three providers that can serve the building have also been identified in the vicinity.

Wired Certification independently certifies buildings, helping landlords and developers improve their building’s technological infrastructure and sets a benchmark for connectivity that allows occupiers to make an informed decision about where they choose to base their business.

Peter Ferrari, chief executive of AshbyCapital, said: “This recognition is testament to our commitment to offer our occupiers the best possible office environment in which they can thrive. We are dedicated to ensuring we keep pace with the technological advancements that will support these businesses both now and in the future.”

Michael Bucknell, development director at Exemplar, said: “Tech firms are increasingly choosing London’s West End and Tottenham Court Road as a base for their businesses – we have already let the top three floors at the Avenue to global travel and tech giant Skyscanner – therefore, it is more important than ever that office buildings here are able to provide these businesses with rapid connectivity to a diverse range of telecoms providers.”

William Newton, EMEA director at WiredScore, said: “AshbyCapital and Exemplar have made a fantastic investment to ensure that the Avenue is a truly exemplary building. In achieving the Wired Certified Platinum rating, they have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring that the Avenue is future-proofed and will provide its tenants with the best experience for digital connectivity.”

Designed by architect Bennetts Associates, the Avenue comprises 71,000 sq ft of office space and 14,000 sq ft of retail space, spread over seven floors.

Skyscanner has taken the top three floors, leaving 47,000 sq ft of office space remaining at the building, set over four contiguous floors.

Office space is being marketed by joint agents CBRE and Savills; agents for retail space are CBRE and Nash Bond.
