Continental European buyers pull back from London housing market

London real estate is no longer the draw it once was for investors from continental Europe, figures from Hamptons International show.

The region accounted for just 8% of buyers of prime London properties in the first quarter.

Hamptons residential research director Fionnuala Earley said it could be a case of purchases having been brought forward last year because of the weaker pound, but noted also the degree of uncertainty currently.
